Hi Phil Thanks for the quick response. The above example is only talking about creating a Color ramp. It doesn't talk about creating proportional disks for SPT N values. Any help with that, please? Thanks, Ratna

Forum Post: gINT Rules - Write to a field in the Project Table

I've been asked to write a gINT Rule that will fill out a field in the Project table based on data written to another field in the Project table when data is imported.. I've done a number of gINT rules in the past to write to Point and Sample tables and I know how to "get" data from the Project table, but how does one write to it?

Seems like if you're importing data to the Project Table, that import file should contain the info which needs to be written in your new field. For example, if you import Field A, Field B, and Field C from an excel file (or whatever) and now you need to write something into Field D, based on Fields B and C, you should just edit your excel file to have the contents needed for Field D, right? EDIT: I guess it could be more complicated than that but maybe this is a good solution for an easy-ish problem. :)

It is a solution, but not the one they are looking for. In part because the data could change after import . In that event, they would want the gINT rule to also write the corrected result to the second field.

I don't believe there is anything different about writing to the Project table vs. other tables. There are different ways to do it, but a common approach is by reading, updating, and writing the table "grid data". The gINT Rule Sample gra005 is useful to set up the code architecture for an On Save event such as this. Also, check out this video under gra005 that explains the whole process.

Hi, I am having problem opening my gINT file for an unknown reason. I tried uninstalling and installing the software but it did not work. It displays the following error message. Hi Khokan, Script errors are most likely in old unsupported gINTversions that had a web browser built in. Hiding the web browser should fix it. The latest versions of gINT no longer have a web browser, if you are eligible your IT can download the latest version here. If you need to work with the old version check the hide web browser on the initial start up screen (open from shortcut) If the error happens before you are able to check the box then disconnect the computer from the internet, open gINT check hide web browser. Close gINT .. Re-connect to the internet . You should be able to open with out the error. See also:

Hi Kirk, I cannot reach the page you are showing to check the web browser. I was not able to download the software either; although, I am connected to the CONNECTION CLIENT. I just need to download the software. Once I have the software I can ask IT to install it with SNC-Lavalin License. Please help. Thank you for your kind cooperation. Hi Khokan, I assume you are using gINT V8i . Is that correct? If you are looking to update to the latest version the Software download rights are managed by your company. If you need to find out who your admin is at your company see here: Your Admin at your company can give you download rights If you want to use the old version until then, disconnect the computer from having internet access. Then open gINT by clicking on the shortcut or the app (not by clicking on a gINT file like a .gpj) It should open to the screen that allows you to check hide web browser. Check Hide web Browser. Close gINT ...Reconnect the computer to have internet access. Reopen gINT. If you want to try and get the old version running and that doesn't work click on my name and send me a message I would be happy to call and help you.

Sorry, my last post was off the point. I'm unsure of if a N calculated by GCT can be used for this. My databases have a field for N value populated by gINT Rules. Here is a screen shot of the config I use.

I have an old Gint file circa 2000. When I try to open this file with the latest Gint version it says can not open files created with previous versions. Is there a way to import this file for use? I tried the repair and compress utility and I get the same message in the progress window. Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris, The repair compact would need to be done on the file in an older version of gINT 10.00.xx.xx or lower. We have left 10.00.01.07 in our software downloads for use as a converter. If you have an older version of MS Access it can be done there also see here. If you just have one file I would be happy to do it for you . Just send it to me privately. kirk.johnson@bentley.com If you will have more than that please use 10.00.01.07 to convert your files.

Thanks! After looking at the *.gpj through Access, I realized that it is a "grid" like the other tables, it just when I looked at it in gINT the row/column nature wasn't as apparent. I was use to stepping through the grid, not fixing the row to "1".

Wiki Page: How Do Material Symbols (Legend Codes) Work

$

This article describes how graphics work within OpenGround Cloud Professional to symbolize material types (soil and rock) and backfill on Log and Quick Section reports. Most typically, these graphics are associated with Legend Code Picklists within OpenGround Cloud. The graphics associated with each Legend Code are defined under System>Configuration Packs>Manage Picklists . See this article for more info about editing Picklists. Graphics can be modified by clicking Edit Image and selecting a new image file. OpenGround Cloud uses bitmap images. New images can be created and edited in any 3rd party bitmap editor, such as GIMP, Paint.NET, or Microsoft Paint. On reports, the image is repeated horizontally and vertically to tile the graphic column. So, it is important that the base pattern within your image will tile appropriately. Note in the example below how some patterns align at the top and bottom of the image (as well as side-to-side). This is common for many typical patterns used to represent soil and rock. Bear this in mind when designing symbols, but note that it may be simpler to create symbols that don't need to match along boundaries. Another important consideration when creating new Legend Code images is the dimensions of the image (in pixels), as this will impact the size of the image on your report. Very large images will appear very large on reports, and some patterns that are commonly used are best-suited to fit horizontally across an entire column. Accordingly, best practice is to create images with a desired column width in mind. The table below summarizes recommended image widths for various column widths. Column Width (mm) Image Width (pixels) 6 50 7 58 8 67 9 75 10 84 11 92 12 100 15 125 20 167 25 209 30 251 General Column Width (mm) * 8.35 For reference, Bentley has created a set of Legend Code images based off the gINT Standard US symbols (link coming soon) that have been designed for a 7 mm-wide column. There is a FitToWidth option for Graphics Bar objects within OpenGround Cloud Template Studio, and it is recommended that this option is used. This allows some flexibility in image dimensions. However, if your Legend Code images are largely oversized, this option will skew the graphics on your report. Additional notes: Note that OpenGround Cloud also utilizes Point Symbols and Connector Symbols , which are more typically used to depict Sample types, Water Levels, and other discrete graphics. Also note that hatching within the OpenGround Cloud Civil 3D extension behaves differently than graphics within OpenGround Cloud Professional reports.

Wiki Page: Launcher Installation and Connected Apps Download Guide

The Launcher is a central hub for connecting to each of the OpenGround Cloud connected apps. The Launcher will be available to download via the Welcome Email sending procedure . The Welcome Emails are sent by an administrator of the system, this usually being a named user within the organisation. Once the Launcher has been downloaded the installation process can begin. Installation With the Launcher installer downloaded it should be run under a Windows account with Administrator privileges: The installation of the Launcher requires Windows Administrator privileges as it is packaged with a Launcher Service. This service is essential for the running of the Launcher interface. The Launcher Service is responsible for the download of each connected application. It is important to note that the download of the apps does not require administration privileges, only the installation of the Launcher itself. As such, in some organisations it my be necessary to contact IT for assistance. After running the Launcher exe login, review the terms and conditions and 'Accept' to continue: Organisations who are new to OpenGround Cloud will continue to install using the default mode. However, legacy users of the Keynetix.Cloud system should see the Upgrading to OpenGround Cloud from Keynetix.cloud article. Pressing Install will run through the installation of the Launcher app and the Launcher Service. It is important to note is that the launcher will install to the C:/ drive of the local machine and this cannot be changed. The same is true of the connected apps. The Launcher can be run now. Launcher Running for the First Time When running the Launcher for the first time you will be prompted to login to the Cloud associated with your user account. Note that a password should have already been defined from the associated link within the welcome email; if this has not been done previously this should be completed now. Enter your Cloud credentials and press Login. The Launcher will now display a list of all available apps - simply click the Install button associated with the app/s you require. Multiple installs of the apps can be queued by clicking on each of the associated Install buttons in turn. Please note some applications require an external program (for example the Excel Extension) while others are associated with a specific release of such a program. In both cases the associated program will need to be installed prior to the Install button becoming available in the Launcher. For example, the OpenGround Cloud Launcher below shows that four apps have been installed: Two of these - the Civil 3D Extension 2019 and the Excel Extension - have been installed as the external program associated with them is installed on the machine. However, note that the Civil 3D Extension 2017 at the bottom of the image cannot be installed as it cannot find a program installed which reflects the environment it needs to run in. By way of contrast the Data Entry app needs additional program but has yet to be installed and as such shows the Install button.

You can re-send a Welcome Email from OpenGround Cloud Professional by going to System>Manage Users>Welcome Emails for the desired recipient(s). The main reason you may want to do this is if the link to the Launcher installer has expired from a previous Welcome Email. The new Welcome Email will provide an updated download link.
