Hi, Very interesting posts. What I can answer to the initial question for now is that we are actually working on the data entry workflow and are not limiting ourselves to building a field application. We are at the stage we are going to decide how many components we build for this workflow. More news in the coming months Nicolas

Wiki Page: Create a Variable Text Legend on a Log Report
Product(s): gINT Professional, gINT Logs Version(s): Any Environment: N/A Area: Report-Log Subarea: How to create a text only legend on report to describe terms used and have it be variable to the particular output. Background There are cases where a user would like to display a legend of Abbreviations used on a report and have it be variable to the particular point you are outputting. This is similar to a variable graphic legend entity, but used for text only items. In this example we will use Sample Types, but this can be used for tests or any other type of text displayed where it comes from a lookup table. Steps to Accomplish Option 1 Use A Variable Text Legend Function In the Header or Footer of a log report. Goto REPORT DESIGN Pick the report you want to edit from the yellow dropdown at the top. In the footer of the report create a Text entity. Use Variable Text Legend Function On the field in the Table you pick from in INPUT that references the lookup. In this example to show Sample Types the Table is SAMPLE and the Field is TYPE. Sample Type >,,0.3_ )>> The output will look like this. The first line is just the text label Option 2 Use A Component Legend Function In Header or Footer of a Log Report Details can be found in HELP ...Index...ComponentLegend. This topic will be covered in a separate WIKI See Also Help...Index....VariableTextLegend Original Author: Kirk Johnson

I was curious if Bentley was able to get this working with SQL based data yet. We are running into issues of the outputs wanting to capture everything from the DB not just the unique project. Thanks

Forum Post: Importing a DXF into a symbol tile
When I try and import a DXF into a symbol tile it does not work properly. As stated in the gINT help file (see below), I should be able to import a solid, and polyline into gint. The DXF commands allow interfacing with AutoCAD® drawing exchange files. Import allows merging in a DXF file into an existing gINT drawing. The supported DXF commands are: ARC ATTDEF BLOCK CIRCLE INSERT LAYER LINE POINT POLYLINE SOLID TRACE TEXT With line entities (ARC, CIRCLE, LINE, POLYLINE, SOLID, and TRACE) gIDraw imports them as equivalent Polylines. In the case of curved entities, the number of circle points (Settings Menu) is used to determine the number of points to use. The program requires that the file extension on the DXF file be ".DXF". But when I import my dxf file it does not import correctly. screen capture of dxf element properties. When I import the dxf I get the following results: Can someone explain why there is no fill and why the it is not importing it into the boundary box correctly? Here is the DXF file I am working with: (Please visit the site to view this file) Thanks, Gerald Piotrowski

Forum Post: RE: Importing a DXF into a symbol tile
Hi Gerald, The fill does not show in the design area. To see the fill click on the preview button. It is a solid fill. If you want a specific color you need to first create the color in the gINT library ... SYMBOL DESIGN..colors The square is coming in at -0.6 to 0 on the x axis. You can move it over 0.6 x and it will be in the correct location. goto .. modify ..offset move ...in change xy (yellow box at bottom) put 0.6 ...choose ..mark all ...hit OK

Forum Post: Editing blocks in gINT Report Design > Logs
Hi, I am new to gINT and trying to modify/edit the output display of borehole logs generated by gINT to better suit our company needs. My question relates to Report Deisgn > Logs menu of gINT software. I am trying to modify a log report captioned as "Geotech BH Columns". In this, a dashed line displays the border of my output page. Outside this dashed outline of page border block names in different colors are written. For example, I have two blocks named as "INT LOGO AND TITLE ALL" and "INT PAGE 1 HEADER PAGE 1" displayed. Now I understand that I can modify the basic properties of the block by double clicking on the block name and playing around with the properties. However, if I try to modify the contents of each block, I am unable to do so, i.e. I can not select any of the items of these blocks for editing. For instance, "INT PAGE 1 HEADER PAGE 1" block shows three water table values, i.e. WT at the time of boring, WT at the end, and WT after 24 hrs. I want to delete two of those and show only WT after 24 hrs. How do I delete it? Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated. If someone can share any tutorial video or help file related to modifying the report design, it would be a great help. Irfan

Forum Post: RE: Editing blocks in gINT Report Design > Logs
Hi Irfan, To modify the blocks, you will have to go the Blocks menu on the menu bar and the select Edit Log blocks. Then you select the PAGE 1 HEADER from the yellow selector. Once you get here, you will be able to edit the information on this block. Select the entity that you want to edit by double clicking the entity and either delete it through the Delete key on your keyboard or click on Erase command that will come at the bottom once you select the entity.

Forum Post: RE: SPT values on Sub-soil Profile
Hi, The question you are asking is file specific. The gINT file set you are using (Project database, and Library) determine the data entry and report display. I am going to make a few assumptions and will answer in very general terms. You will need to modify to make work on your specific file set. First since you say subsurface “profile” I assume you want to edit a FENCE report in gINT. Yes you can add SPT – Nvalues to your fence report. To do so you would add a text vs depth entity to the fence report. With the depth expression you choose (ie top of sample >). Then write your text expression for how you want to display and calculate SPT. There are many ways ( ie include blow counts, just show the 2nd plus 3rd, account for refusal) etc… If you already show these value on your log report, you can copy the same text expression and depth expression from the entity in the log report. Likewise you can display any other value on your fence report. Most likely this would also be a text vs depth entity. Where ever you enter those values in your database they can be referenced on the report. If you currently do not have a field or table to enter the data you want, you can add tables or fields to your current database and then reference them on the reports. gINT databases and libraries are fully customizable so to be able to give you a more precise answer I would need to see your files. For example gINT standard US files are very different than AGS file structure or you may have your own company structure. Here are a few links Fence design tutorial Database design tutorial

Forum Post: Two orientations per log

Forum Post: Modifying Report Design > Logs (Columns in Log report)
Hi, I have been trying to edit/modify the Logs report format in the "Report Design > Logs" section. I need to do so in order to have an output form which better suit our company requirements. I have been able to modify the header and title sections of the Log report, however currently I am struggling to modify various columns of the log report form. I understand that I have to connect each log report column with the corresponding table through a code to update it accordingly. However the code line required to to do is not clear to me. I shall be thankful if someone can guide me to the relevant help/tutorial file explaining how to modify the Log Report columns. If such document does not exist, then even a couple of simple examples demonstrating the linkages between log report columns and relevant tables would give me a reasonable head-start to do some self-learning. Thanks in advance. Irfan

Forum Post: Munsell color
Hello, I am using the "gINT Std Espana Lab", and I would like to know if there's any chance to use the Munsell Color on the logs. Actually, it has a list of colors (yellow, cian, magenta, green, gray, etc,) but it is not realistic and that's why I would like to use the Munsell color instead. Thank you for your help.

This can't be done with one report. Make two reports and output them using one of the following 1. a script 2. Datgel Output Tool , which is a higher level interface to make a script.

Forum Post: How to have different depth units for different borehole IDs in gINT logs
Hello, I have a project where I have 3 borehole IDs of which are different depths. I'd like to put a different depth unit for each borehole so that they each fit nicely on their own page. By changing the depth units under Report Design the depth unit changes for each borehole. How do I enter in different depth units for each borehole so that I can achieve having each hole on their own page and not to be longer than one page each? Thank you, Rikki

Forum Post: RE: How to have different depth units for different borehole IDs in gINT logs
Hi Rikki, In your input under Borehole table you may you have a field "Depth Log Page" you can set your depth units for each borehole there. If you are using a gINT Std US or gINT US Lab project or cloning a project using gINT Std US or gINT Std US Lab data template, you will see this field in the borehole table. If you don't see it, you may want to create a new field just like this.
